Students from the Monarch Center for Autism to Create Winter Woodland in Woodmere
Eton Chagrin Boulevard’s annual art installation, Winter Woodland, will return Sunday, November 21st and will run through February 15th. Dozens of hand-crafted pieces from the students at Monarch Center for Autism will be on display both inside and outside Eton’s Woodmere property. The art installation is sponsored by long-time Eton partner Thomarios.
Each year, students from the Monarch Center tap into their artistic side to create colorful cut-outs of bears, birds, deer, wolves, and other woodland creatures to be displayed in Eton’s award-winning outdoor gardens for the winter season. In addition, the students will also be creating hand-drawn pieces on canvas to be showcased inside the mall along the Atrium Shops at Eton Chagrin Boulevard.
“The artwork is incredible!” said Krista Schill, Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations. “It adds such a great visual element both to our gardens and inside the mall during the winter months. More importantly, it helps spread autism awareness and showcases the amazing work being done at Monarch Center.”
Monarch provides a comprehensive living and learning environment for children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Their innovative approach is grounded in a visual language immersion treatment focused on empowering students by enabling communication for them to learn to voice their needs, connect others to their experiences, and comment on their environment and life.
Donation boxes will be setup alongside the displays for those who would like to support the Monarch Center for Autism, and QR codes will be placed nearby for those who would prefer to donate online.
